I understand that attending your first session can be intimidating or nerve-wracking. At our first session, you will complete some initial paperwork and I will go over the counseling process and answer any additional questions you may have. After that, we will work together to explore your personal history and determine your counseling needs. Initial goals of therapy may be created. At the end of our session, we will discuss next steps and book an appointment if you feel comfortable.

As a client, hopefully you will actively participate in therapy by communicating your feelings and keeping me fully informed about any changes in your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. In addition, we can work together to determine your treatment goals. It helps to desire to change or consider other alternatives towards problems.

It is an opportunity to make sure all of your questions and hesitations are addressed. It gives you an opportunity to “shop- around” with no strings attached. Picking the right therapist for you should be a selective process, and I want to make sure you are ready to jump in to work on the first session as all of your questions will have been answered.

If you have more questions, please schedule a consultation to discuss more.
